A gerund is a verb in its ing present participle form that functions as a noun that names an activity rather than a person or thing. Any action verb can be made into a gerund. Spelling Tip. Verbing Present Participle Add ing to most verbs. Ex. play gt; playing, cry gt; crying, bark gt; barking; For verbs that end in e, remove the e and add ing.

Both gerunds and infinitives can be subjects in sentences, and both

 

वो तो एक महीने बाद है |

That's just a month away.

क्यों सर ? आप तो कल जाने वाले थे |

Gerund as Object of Preposition Because a gerund is a noun, it can be the object of a preposition in a prepositional phrase.

 

प्लीज उसकी बात का बुरा मत मानो |

Please don't mind him.

एक बार समझाने पर समझ में नहीं आता क्या ?

Don't you understand when you're explained once?

मैं समझ गया | मैं सब कुछ समझ गया |

I have understood. I've understood everything.

तुम मुझे avoid कर रही हो | तुम मेरा फ़ोन नहीं उठा रही हो |

you are avoiding me. you are not picking up my phone.
